Do you want to wear the best dress possible for your body shape and size?

"Designing a women's Dancesport and Country, ice and artistic roller skating costume requires minimal creativity and no drawing experience.

I teach design more like a science than art.

It’s about knowledge – knowing how to determine what works on each woman's body shape, and what will likely not look good on your figure.

In my dress design challenges, I give you the skills you need to create sketches that accentuate your favorite body parts and minimize the areas you don’t like.“

I believe you are one-of-a-kind, and your dresses should be too.

  • Are you tired of competing in costumes that have the wrong neckline and offer no bust support?
  • Do you want to learn how to create slimming dress designs that make your tummy look flatter?
  • Do you want to camouflage some parts of your body while accentuating other areas?
  • Are you confused about how a dress drawn on a female sketch template that looks nothing like your body will actually look on you?
  • Are you willing to invest time in looking better so you can perform your best?

If you answered yes to one or more of those questions, then you are in the right place!

My mission is to help you realize your potential as a dress designer so you look and feel fabulous on the dance floor and in the rink.

Each design class is unique.  Many Sew Like A Pro™ sewing school members participate in each dress design challenge.  There are also quite a lot of participants who love the dress design challenges so much she attends almost every one!

Therefore, I teach different topics that relate to specific dance or skate styles.  I also address topics that pertain to all of us as women performers.

After all, we have a lot in common no matter which style dance or skate we do or where we live in the world.  We bend.  We stretch.  We move as gracefully as we can while working our bums off -- and we want to look great and feel secure in our costumes!

During a 2021 design challenge, Oliv in Germany made daily posts in our community forum summing up what she learned in each day's live training.

Here is one of her colorful posts.

I absolutely love her recap of my training about common design guidelines!

Maybe you wonder why I call the design classes a "challenge"?

(Sometimes I also call these special classes a "workshop" or a "masterclass".)

That's a two-fold answer.

  1. I try to encourage and empower you by challenging your concept of what looks good on you, why it's important and how to push yourself beyond your current limitations.
  2. It is also a challenge for me to teach new and similar material in fun, inspiring ways, constantly improving how and what material I share.  Plus, my team and I work long, challenging work weeks prior to each event getting all the behind-the-scenes tech stuff ready.

In a nutshell, we all learn and grow as individuals and as a community.

I truly hope you decide to participate in one (or several) of my dress design challenges or other special classes!

Yours in dance, skate and sewing,

Teresa Sigmon
